Niantic sponsored Miami Hack Week 2023 with the the Niantic AR Hack House, a space dedicated to exploring the intersection of WebAR and Web3.
I joined a small team of colleagues from Niantic to mentor hackers and introduce builders in Miami’s tech scene to the possibilities of WebAR. From a pool of 90+ applicants, 30 hackers from around the world were selected to build together in our house, fully sponsored by Niantic.
On the first day, I hosted a one-hour introduction to 8th Wall, setting the foundation for a week of experimentation and innovation.

The winning team, Wanted, created Grakkthul — a real-time multiplayer WebAR battle where everyone in the room worked together to fight a digital monster. Their project not only won the Niantic AR House hackathon, but also placed in the top five out of 60+ projects across Miami Hack Week 2023.
Following MHW, the team went on to found a company and continue developing their project, which remains active today: Earth MMO.
