Becoming

Becoming

A message. A mirror. A moment.

That was the invitation I shared for Becoming, my first public activation at Castro Night Market. Not a booth, but a living metaphor for growth and transformation.

At the center stood a mirror spray-painted in bold strokes. A provocation, a declaration, an unfinished sentence. On a small table, markers quietly invited passersby to leave something behind.

Unapologetically gay. My true self. Stronger. Love.

As the mirror filled with declarations, the booth itself continued to evolve. More plants, more vines, more lights — until it overflowed with life.

By the end of the night, the mirror was layered with voices. Plants spilled onto the street. Lights colored the space. The installation was no longer mine. It belonged to everyone who touched it.

It had become more than a mirror. It was a vessel, alive with the traces of hundreds of hands and hearts. A reminder that becoming is the work of us all.
